Links, Again.
- Apparently after consulting his local attorney, a comics blogger posts the following in the comments for Kalinara's Meanwhile... column for Blog@Newsarama:
Please cease and desist linkage to my blog. I do not want it, nor need it. I will find an audience on my own. Thank you.
Kalinara removed the link, of course, because she's a nice person. I'm not so nice, so here's another link to James Meeley's comics blog.
James Meeley - Arch-rival and brother from another mother Chris Sims has a new supervillainy article up on Cracked.com Good stuff, even if he listened to my advice in a couple of spots.
- James Sime is a man who never misses a beat. That's why he emailed me to tell you cats and kittens in the Bay area to check out an event at his beloved Isotope. They're celebrating the debut of American Born Chinese with creator Gene Yang and fellow artist Lark Pien. The party (and I'm sure it will be quite the fete, as Sime's known as the premiere bon vivant of comics) stats at 7pm on September 20th at Isotope's storefront on 326 Fell St in San Francisco. You can get more info here.
- Joss Whedon to script Runaways. First issue to debut in March 2009 with the second to come out 4 months later.
- Frank Miller's "This I Believe" essay for NPR makes me start think that maybe he's not the Andy Kaufman of comics.
- I've not pimped it before, but I should have. Check out Random Panels, a hilarious romp through, as the name blatantly states, random comics panels. There's gold in them thar old funnybooks!
Finally, here's the new Pet Shop Boys video for the Diane Warren-penned "Numb." I still hate the "Wannas" that litter the song, but the strings are quite lovely and the video's a stunner, recalling Russian cinema of the 20s and 30s. This comes as no surprise to us fans that know of Neil Tennant's fetish for Russian history.
