Comics News Post: July 9, 2007



DC has announced a new online comics imprint, Zudacomics.com, that accepts public submissions and pays for the best. Paul Levitz, president and publisher of DC said "One of the problems that comics have today, I think, is that open door is much more closed. This creates a more open door."

Creators are encouraged to send submissions that run the full gamut of comic book genres including humor, romance, science fiction, fantasy and superheroes. No word yet on whether or not DC will merely beat you up and take your wallet, or if biting the curb is a condition of the creator contract.



Speaking of DC Comics, Dan Didio was the subject of a long interview with ComicBloc.com's Eric Moreno. In the interview, DiDio talks about his first comics, co-writing Superboy, deadlines, and managing major event comics. To the disappointment of bloggers everywhere, Didio failed to confirm allegations that he was the son of Satan.



Costco has teamed up with Pixar and the Macon's Chateau de Messey to produce a Ratatouille wine. The 2004 white Burgundy will be available at Costco locations across the country beginning August 1, and at JoJo's Clearance Liquorteria by August 13th.



In addition to ruling over the box office this past weekend, the Transformers are also responsible for the creation of the first-of-its-kind wiki. Transfanon will give fans a chance to upload biographies of the characters they've created for their Transformers fan fiction.
