All right, you goldbricks! Apparently some of you are having trouble making time with the skirts and Dum Dum told me that morale was dropping like trousers during vaccination rounds. While SHIELD can’t use its resources to get the girl back to your pad, we can provide you with the mood music that’ll make sure there’s a wet spot to make her sleep in. Ma Fury’s favorite son tried it out with the Contessa last night and I’d recommend stopping by the PX and making sure you’ve got some raincoats handy before use.

…just to say that I saw Neilalien at the show and that I forgot to include him on my list and we didn’t get to do anything together because I had dinner and collapsed instead of raging and I’m sorry and I’ll make it up to you at MoCCA.
(Is that good enough? Will you destroy that security camera footage now? Please?)

Someone stole Luc Latulippe’s work outright and published it in a goddamn book. Luc’s a fantastic illustrator that I met through Twitter and every time I see his material, the world seems a bit brighter. Poor show, Chinese Copyright Infringers. Poor fucking show.

Thanks To: Ross, Nelson (I feel weird calling you Mike), Mosher (pronounced Mozher, not Mosh-er), and Mark at BOOM! for reminding me why I like them enough to not actually wander the floor or go to panels (where I’d probably snap and strangle a Spoiler fan for asking, yet again, something about her coming back in a regular series) and to Birdie, John (+ Bully), and Randi for being my bestest con pals evah. (At least until San Diego, when I pay those three monkeys to follow me.)
Hello To: Gina FirstSecond, Andy Khouri, McKelvie, Jonah, Augie, Dave, Zak, Jeff (whose camera I broke,) Matt from Comicopia (who needs to get in touch with me about the site), Johanna Draper Carlson, Tom Spurgeon, Jenny from Diamond, Chris Butcher (who I caught as I was leaving), Tim, Laura (who I saw for far, far, far too little time) and everyone who came up and said they liked the blog and/or the comics.
Special Super Hello To: J Dee and Brigid for making the train ride home a lot more enjoyable. We will have to do that thing with the people.
What I Bought: Rian Hughes’s Yesterday’s Tomorrows from Knockabout; the hardcover edition of The Incredible Change-Bots along with Yearbook Stories: 1976-1978 and the collection of The Surrogates from Top Shelf; and the Days of Future Present trade paperback from don’t give me that look.

…it's been so busy that I've done nothing but sell comics and meet people at BOOM!'s and bought nothing but I had lunch with Andy Khouri and Gina First Second. (Not her last name, but I like how it sounds.)
I did manage to break http://www.conditionalaxe.com 's camera, though, and that was awesome. Really. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

…are gathered in town to see the pope and I'm convinced the whole thing is a Grant Morrison Conceptual Stunt.
Small get-together last night with some people I've not seen in a while. Sushi and a bar tab that left bite marks on my ass. Before that, spent the entirety of the show in BOOM!'s booth, where I had a lovely chat with Johanna Draper Carlson from http://comicsworthreading.com and Spurgeon as well as a few industry people who took my card without too much disgust. I saw Bully, which I always try to do while in the city, and he was wearing a lively getup to say the least.
After I get some breakfast at the touristy-yet-tasty Brooklyn Diner with Birdie and the Mrs, it's back to the show and hopefully seeing McKelvie and some others before things go orgiastic. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

This cab driver is determined – NAY, hellbent – on getting me killed. If we are indeed crushed between a bus and a UPS truck in some attempt to do a Speed Racer pass, just know that I will miss you all terribly much.

…for the Comic-Con (or is it Comic Con or ComiCon or ComicCon?) and I've already run afoul of Zee Law, who informed me that taking pictures in Boston's South Station is illegal. I'm fairly sure this is a nudging of my rights, but since I never bothered to read up on these things, I'm just going to nod and smile and thank god the government is looking out for fat guys with wide-angle lenses.
Apparently, my allergies are a massive concern to the MBTA and Amtrak. From where I stand waiting for 2159 to get called, I can see more than twenty ads for Claritin in the form of banners, signs, and video displays.
As you've figured out, I'm taking the train this time, an 800% more expensive way to get to The City than the usual Cheap And Possibly Dangerous Bus, but I've been assured that business class on Acela is akin to having angels gently loft you to your destination while Glenn Gould performs a particularly challenging piece just for you. If this has been exaggerated, there will be sanctions against this mode of transport's proponents. That's drinkin' fundage I'm spending, people.
I'll try to update like this from the con every few hours. Probably stream-of-consciousness crap that'll require heavy editing later, but LIVEBLOGGING IS THE NEW and all that.

Because I love Chip Mosher so much (and he loves free labor more,) I’m probably going to be at the booth at times outside of the ordained signings, so feel free to swing by any ol’ time. Look for the broad, nerdy fellow with glasses.

Was it any good? I was raised in a house where store brand (in my case, Kroger) was Good Enough so eat it now before you get locked in the pit again. New Englanders: compare it to Teddy, which I love a bit too much.
Is it the real reason that Lex Luthor hates Superman?
Why was there no Jimmy Olsen Jelly? I mean, aside from the vaguely disgusting connotations from the name. It’d be the perfect pal to Superman Peanut Butter!

Aaaand here’s that strip that didn’t show up yesterday. We’re back doing three strips + picks a week, it looks like, after some needed retooling. This middle one’s going to be a straight one-panel gag thing, but we both like the muscles it’s exercising versus my usual “OK, now we have a silent panel because that’s the easiest way to make something funny” methodoly.

If you’ve visited The Rack, you’ve probably noticed that the strip is missing and has been replaced with bizarre errors. For once, this is not our fault. I’ve sent a ticket in to our webhost with as much information as I can gather, so hopefully we’ll be up and running fairly quickly.

Busy today, so it’s time for outbound links:
I don’t believe I knew about Danijel Zezelj’s Rex prior to seeing an ad on some site. It’s very pretty. (Hey, I wonder if we’ll ever see more Desolation Jones.)
Sean Phillips’s new book blow up looks great. I may swing by his booth at NYCC and see if he’s got copies on hand.
Daniel Krall’s Iron Man is fantastic. I’d love to see a New Frontier take on Marvel’s Silver Age. (You know, like Marvels but cool instead of reverent.)
