The massive New Yorker profile on James Cameron is must reading.

The New Yorker profiles Avatar director James Cameron and the quotes from it are amazing. The Vulture breaks down the most fantastic bits into bite-sized brainbombs.

DESIGN FETISH: Magnadd’s sleeves for Bedrock 11

Comments Off | Posted: October 16th, 2009 | Filed under: Design Fetish

Manadd’s designs for the 11th anniversary collection for the well-regarded dance label Bedrock do a fine job of reflecting the music inside: sleek, precise, and with just enough color to make it interesting. In a better world, the type would be smaller, but now things have to be designed for the miniscule iTunes cover art display.

wikireader

Taking cues from the Kindle and iPod classic, Openmoko’s Wikireader is a three-button encyclopedia that allows the user to focus on content. I’m actually a big fan of single-function devices that do one thing really well. My only question, of course, is if the section on the lightsaber in popular culture is going to reflect my edits from earlier this month.
