I’m really going to miss PARTY DOWN.

It was a master class in comedy that was full of great performances and characters that you genuinely cared about, but it was on Starz, so of course nobody ever saw it and it faded away into the dark night. In fact, my parents are the only people I know who even know what Starz is outside of a channel that provides content to Netflix Watch Instantly. I think they show third-run movies? Occasionally Paul Blart shows up?

(Yes, I know the whole story about how Starz executives took too long to renew the show and Adam Scott and several others went to go find new jobs because they have to work sometime, but let me just blame the whole fiasco on them being on Starz instead of HBO or even Showtime, home of A Show About David Duchovny’s Dick.)

This was easily the best show Starz had. It was the one thing Starz could count on me for. I had missed that season 2 would be the last…this makes me sad.

Frankly, if Starz would have been smart, they would have tried to build on the show, promoting it heavily and finding shows of similar quality. HBO may miss from time to time, but they hit quality enough that I stick around and look forward to many shows when they are announced. Starz had some gladiator show.

This was a really really great show – my wife and I both love it. I’ve never had Starz in my life! We watched it on netflix. At least IFC is showing Freaks and Geeks now…

It’s funny that you posted this today- as I only recently learned about both the genius of the show and its untimely demise all in one night (last saturday to be exact). Since then I watched the entire first season and half of the second season on netflix streaming and planned on watching the rest of it this weekend, only to discover last night when I powered up netflix that starz went ahead and removed the show from the streaming list.

I was pretty furious as I had no prior knowledge of the removal, and if I had I surely would have powered through the remaining 4 episodes over the course of the week. Needless to say, it was a fantastic show that I was sorry to pick up on so late. Now I just have to wait the few months it takes for them to release the second season on DVD- damn you Starz…

Weird, earlier today it was telling me they would be up until, like, August first…but yeah, suddenly both seasons are gone.

Party Down belonged on a channel that’d take the time with it like an FX. Paired with “Always Sunny” it would of killed! Hell, even HBO would of given it time to develop…

It’s not the only shows canceled for their time this year:
