My Favorite Records | "Planet E" by KC Flightt
Comments Off | Posted: February 26th, 2008 | Filed under: UncategorizedThe first time I heard “Planet E” was on a cassette slid to me over the counter at Wax N Facts in Atlanta. Victoria noticed I was buying electronic and acid house records in truly irrational amounts and offered this mixtape from a local DJ as a bonus. I got back into my car and popped it into the deck. “Planet E” was the first track, a loopy, funny bit of acid house-rap and I was smitten immediately. I don’t remember much else about the cassette – I’m pretty sure the ubiquitous “Voodoo Ray” was on there, though – but KC Flightt’s masterwork has stuck in my head for years between listens. I never bought it on vinyl, oddly enough, but the age of YouTube means I get to share it with you all.
Is it cheesy? As if it were constructed from Brie and Gouda.
Is the rapping fairly horrible? Oh, my yes.
Does it ever, ever fail to make me happy? No, it does not.
You can download the “Acid Drop” remix of the track here if you’d like. (Thanks to bitterandrew for his assistance in this matter.)
