Were they awarded their medal by the Mayor of Tammany Hall?

It’s pretty sad that I can recite the entire first verse of this from memory. (I think I was 9 when this came out.) Also pretty sad is the line “We need heroes like the Lone Ranger/When Tonto came pronto when there was danger.”

Thanks, Kevin! I’ve never seen this video, but my copy of the soundtrack tape was played ragged back in the halcyon days of the early nineties. Whoever had the idea to pair new jack swing with TMNT is a frickin’ legend.
I remember back when this played on the radio, one time the announcer on 680 – before 680 went to all-talk – had this song on the Top 6 at 6 and prefaced it with “You are never gonna hear these guys ever again, so enjoy it while you can!”
First cassette single I ever bought, but to this day it bugs me that they refer to Raphael as “the leader of the group.”
They performed at the Bangor State Fair in Maine some years past their sell-by date. A friend of mine went to see them and said that yes, they did indeed perform Turtle Power, and that it was just as equally sad and awesome as you’d expect.
